About the Volvo XC60

The XC60 is Volvo’s most popular model, not just of the current lineup, but the best-selling Volvo model of all time. That popularity is the result of a few different factors, like the high level of standard equipment, the Scandinavian design, and Volvo’s advanced technology. With standard all-wheel drive and a mild hybrid system, the XC60 starts off with a couple of major advantages over the competition built right into the drivetrain. The interior provides a welcome alternative to the mostly German competition, with a feel that is distinct in the best way. High-quality materials and advanced engineering presented with understated elegance is how Volvo builds cars, and the XC60 is the perfect example of that.
What the Critics Say
“With interior styling and rich materials that mirror more expensive Volvos, the XC60 is like having your kladdkaka and eating it, too. Clean lines and high-quality materials add a distinctly Scandinavian flavor to the XC60’s cabin—standard issue for a modern Volvo.” – Car & Driver
“Volvo XC60s are thick on the ground in Sweden, and it’s not just because of hometown automaker pride. The XC60 is a super well-rounded compact luxury SUV — nice to look at and even better to drive. And following a small update for 2026, the XC60 is even more deserving of your attention.” – Edmunds
What’s New For 2026
Volvo has tweaked the design language for gasoline-powered models, and the 2026 XC60 is the second vehicle in the lineup to get the redesign treatment. The most noticeable exterior change is the new grille, although there are also new wheel options and three new paint colors: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red. Inside, the big change is the infotainment screen; not only is the new 11.2-inch unit bigger than the old 9-inch version, it boasts better image quality and speeds as well.
Volvo XC60 Features

Well Equipped
The XC60 comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a mild hybrid system. This produces a combined 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, more than enough for the compact SUV to feel peppy and athletic. Power is sent through an 8-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. All of this is robust enough that the XC60 is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds, far more than you see with other compact SUVs. The advanced drivetrain is an excellent standard feature, but it’s far from the only one. The XC60 also stands out with cutting-edge climate features, like dual-zone automatic climate control, an air quality system, a humidity sensor, and even afterrun parking climate control (which regulates temperature for up to 15 minutes after the engine is switched off) as a standard feature.

Scandinavian Luxury
Volvo calls on Scandinavian design principles to give the XC60 a timeless and sophisticated look. From the “Thor’s Hammer” headlights to the panoramic roof, Volvo puts an emphasis on understated and functional design. The XC60 impresses in the details, with high-quality materials throughout the cabin, including premium textiles, Nappa leather, and genuine wood inlays. Even the gear selector knob is made of genuine crystal, produced by Orrefors®, another Swedish manufacturer that shares Volvo’s Scandinavian design ethos. Ambient LED illumination adds to the calming effect of the design. The cabin is spacious too, with room for five adults, as well as ample cargo space in the back, easily accessible from the standard hands-free power tailgate.

Advanced Technology
Volvo uses cutting-edge technology to enhance every aspect of the XC60 experience. From the advanced drivetrain that gives you smooth and capable power delivery without sacrificing fuel economy, to creature comforts like the heated front seats. The 11.2-inch infotainment touchscreen is powered by Google, giving you unmatched functionality, including access to more apps via the Play Store. To make the most of the infotainment system, there is an available 600-watt Harman Kardon premium stereo with 14 speakers, including an air-ventilated subwoofer, enough to satisfy the audiophile in your family. There is a 12.3-inch driver information display that comes standard, and an available head-up display that lets you better keep your eyes on the road.
