About The Volvo EX60

The best-selling and most competitive EV segment is midsize SUVs, so Volvo knew that its entry into this segment had to be exceptional in order to be competitive. Volvo managed to surpass even that lofty goal with the EX60, a technological wonder that pushes EV technology forward for the whole industry. The EX60 blends a 400-mile maximum range with up to 670 horsepower and a highly practical 64.3 cubic feet of cargo space. It even has a 4,500-pound towing capacity, which is a thousand more than the already impressive capacity of the XC60, its conventional counterpart in the Volvo stable. Even the styling is a clear evolutionary step forward, inside and out, and includes things like a new aerodynamic design for the door handles. The EX60 steps up the safety features as well, and even audiophiles will be impressed by the stereo.

What the Critics Say

“By its name alone, you can draw the reasonable (and correct) conclusion that the Volvo EX60 is the electric kissin’ cousin to the company’s bestselling XC60, just as the EX90 fills that role alongside the XC90. However, there’s more than meets the eye here. The EX60 is Volvo’s most radical and forward-thinking attempt at an electric vehicle yet.” – Car & Driver

“Early impressions from our first ride in the EX60 are promising. The compact electric SUV feels quick even in midlevel form, with strong acceleration, a quiet cabin, and a comfortable ride that still allows some driver customization through adjustable steering, suspension, and regenerative braking settings. The interior looks airy and upscale without going overly minimalist.” – MotorTrend

Volvo EX60 Features

Volvo EX60

Impressive Electric Performance

The drivetrain of the EX60 is incredibly advanced, even compared to other newly debuted EVs. It comes in three different forms, with the standard P6 drivetrain coming with rear-wheel drive, 369 horsepower, and 354 lb-ft of torque. As with most EVs, adding all-wheel drive also increases power, so the AWD P10 drivetrain comes in at 503 horsepower and 524 lb-ft of torque. There is a high-performance option as well, the P12. This AWD drivetrain produces 670 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, making the EX60 capable of going from 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds, a time that’s deep into what would usually be sports car territory. The construction of the EX60 is a bit different from other EVs as well, with the battery pack forming a part of the vehicle’s structure, allowing it to be mounted lower, which in turn lowers the center of gravity and improves handling. Then there’s the advanced tech of the batteries themselves, which boast an industry-leading 370kW DC fast charging rate, allowing you to add 173 miles of range with just 10 minutes of charging.

Volvo EX60 Interior

Luxury Design

The EX60 marks a new chapter in Volvo’s design evolution. While it’s easy to see the Scandinavian design ethos that has always shaped Volvo vehicles in the design of the EX60, it is also distinct in several key ways. The bodywork is incredibly aerodynamic, boasting a 0.26 coefficient of drag. Inside, the design is simple without feeling spartan, thanks to the use of high-quality materials for a premium look and feel. Comfort and ease of use were the highest priorities, and the extra space provided by the low-slung battery pack just adds to that. There are four interior colors available, as well as two colors for the interior trim pieces. Cardamom, Charcoal, and Dawn are all available for Nordico, ventilated Nordico, and ventilated nappa leather upholstery, and all come with weathered grey ash wood trim. Wool blend upholstery is available too, in Rye, and with ash wood trim that is fused with rubus to give it a dark red appearance. Another evolution is the infotainment touchscreen, which is the first horizontal-oriented touchscreen in a Volvo vehicle. The 15-inch OLED is also the biggest ever fitted to a Volvo vehicle.

Advanced Technology

The drivetrain technology in the EX60 isn’t the only part that’s leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. The EX60 has a significant advantage in computing power, making for more responsive systems that are capable of quickly performing more complex tasks. The “brain” of this system is called HuginCore, and it is capable of up to 250 trillion operations per second. This also allows for the introduction of new technologies, and the EX60 is the first vehicle in the world to come with multi-adaptive seat belts. This is the latest of many Volvo safety innovations, and it allows the vehicle to constantly adjust tension before, during, and briefly after an accident in order to maximize protection while simultaneously minimizing injuries from the belt itself. Like all Volvo vehicles, the EX60 uses a Google built-in infotainment operating system, but here it also includes Google’s Gemini AI assistant. The infotainment system is also connected to a truly impressive stereo system. The standard system is the sort of thing you would expect to pay extra for in a competing vehicle, a 1,200-watt Bose system with 21 speakers. And any audiophiles looking to get the absolute most out of their listening experience can upgrade to the 1,820-watt Bowers & Wilkins system that comes with 28 speakers and Dolby Atmos.
